| Wayne's Biography |
|
Wayne Barcomb was president of a Boston college textbook company and served as chairman of the executive council of the Higher Education division of the Association of American Publishers before turning to full time writing. He finds excitement and fulfillment from three different aspects of his writing career. The first is the hands on research he does, consisting of close ties with homicide detectives, FBI agents, visits to prison inmates, working as a bartender in a notorious strip joint to gather material, and participating in crime scene re-enactments at places like the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. The second aspect he enjoys is the actual writing, which he does long hand on his balcony overlooking Sarasota Bay and the interaction with his editor-wife, Susan on tightening the book’s plot, style, and characterization – all of which are accomplished over long period of debate (arguments) and compromise. The third aspect he enjoys is working with his wife, Susan, on marketing and promotional campaigns, which they conceive and execute to supplement the publisher’s efforts. Susan Nelle Barcomb spent 15 years in publishing before moving to Sarasota, FL to work with her husband, Wayne, editing and developing his novels. With her editing and marketing background and expertise she is truly a full partner in the franchise. “We share similar interests, and professionally have compatible and complimentary skills and talents. My forte is developmental, conceptual editing,” says Susan. |
